Coming from a large fandom myself I had hoped there would be a lot to identify with in this story. Even though I wasn't a writer I do remember the feelings of following an incredible fic, waiting breathlessly for updates and interacting on fandom message boards and community sites with people who were just as head over heels for a certain fictional world as I was!
Unfortunately Fangirl just wandered around aimlessly on and on to the point where I just knew there would be one crisis or another for dramatic effect. Each part of the story felt tacked on and then Rowell would just make her way in a circle updating each element in what seemed like a methodical manner. I just didn't click with it at all unfortunately, too bad.
