I have heard people commenting that they enjoyed The Lies of Locke Lamora better than this one but I would say that Red Skies has place just a little bit ahead of Lies in my eyes. I think it has to do with the pirates..there is no way that I can't love a good pirate adventure and this has that in spades.
Lynch continues his Gentleman Bastards saga with another amazingly complex and layered tale that takes Jean and Locke on a ridiculously entertaining and twisty ride to an agonizing finish. The ending packs quite a punch and takes us to a place I had no way of predicting. I can see why fans were frothing at the mouth for the series continuation, I will be reading the next one post haste.
